Shiatsu Massage

“Shiatsu” is a form of Japanese acupressure which literally means “finger pressure” and is also described as acupuncture without the needles. The technique uses the thumbs (as well as fingers, palms, elbows, knees and feet) to apply holding pressure on selected acupressure points around the body.

The treatment also includes exercises, rotations and stretches of limbs, joints and meridians. What makes Shiatsu unique is that it combines diagnosis and treatment detecting energy imbalances before there are any symptoms making it a wonderful preventive therapy.

Shiatsu, based on the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), believes that disease is a result of an imbalance of chi energy in the system of channels known as meridians. Treatment aims to unblock this flow of energy in order to bring about healing and balance to the body, mind and spirit. In Western medical terms Shiatsu works by stimulating the parasympathetic nervous system to calm and relax the body. A shiatsu massage can be used simply for relaxation to relieve stress and tension or as a therapy to treat specific conditions both of which will leave you feeling relaxed and rejuvenated!
